Former Manchester United defender Brandon Williams has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving without insurance following a high-speed crash on the A34 near Handforth, Cheshire, on August 20, 2023. The 24-year-old was driving an Audi A3 at speeds of up to 99mph in a 70mph zone, with a balloon in his mouth, when he collided with a Ford Fiesta before crashing into the central reservation.

Witnesses reported that Williams was driving erratically, with a female passenger filming him at one point. After the crash, he was taken to the hospital for treatment and later arrested. He initially denied driving erratically and attempted to blame another driver, but later admitted to the charges.

Williams, who was on loan to Ipswich Town during the 2023-24 season, left Manchester United in June 2024 after his contract expired. He is currently without a club.

At Chester Crown Court, Williams was sentenced to a 12-month community order, including 200 hours of unpaid work, and was banned from driving for 18 months. He was also ordered to pay £1,000 in costs. The judge noted that it was fortunate no one was seriously injured or killed in the incident.

This incident adds to Williams' history of driving offenses, including previous driving bans and penalty points. His mother has expressed hope that he can return to football after serving his punishment.

The case highlights the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of responsible behavior on the road.
